Bulgaria supports the memorandum of understanding between Bulgarian satellite company EnduroSat and French rocket company Arianespace, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov said in a video posted on his Facebook profile on Thursday. Pekanov is part of the Bulgarian delegation led by Prime Minister Rumen Radev attending the International Space Summit in Paris. Pekanov said the two companies would explore opportunities to launch in the future satellites manufactured and equipped in Bulgaria. He described the agreement as an important initiative for using the emerging space sector to attract new investment and create new opportunities, adding that Bulgaria was not merely one of the 120 participating delegations but was actively supporting the memorandum between the two companies. At a ceremony at the Elysee Palace, EnduroSat and Arianespace signed a memorandum of understanding. Bulgaria and France are opening the way for deep and productive cooperation in high technology and space, Prime Minister Rumen Radev told journalists after attending the ceremony together with French President Emmanuel Macron. Radev said the document signed by the two companies would give Bulgaria an opportunity to secure a worthy place in the European space ecosystem. Pekanov said the agreement also built on a memorandum signed about a month ago between the Bulgarian Government and EnduroSat for the construction of a new development and industrial centre for satellite manufacturing in Bulgaria. He added that the aim was to complete the full cycle, from manufacturing satellites in Bulgaria to launching them in Europe. The Bulgarian delegation to the Space Summit, led by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, also includes Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov and Innovation and Digital Transformation Minister Ivan Vasilev. The Space Summit, which began on Wednesday, has brought together representatives of 120 countries, with Russia, Iran and North Korea excluded from the list of invitees.
